Jonathan Mattick – DJ
This month, we’re celebrating Jonathan Mattick, whose inspiring journey shows that it’s never too late to start something new.
After spending 40 years working in retail, Jonathan found himself at a crossroads following redundancy. Although it was a difficult time, it also gave him the chance to reconnect with his creative side and explore self-employment.
Referred to Momentic through Palladium, Jonathan worked alongside Business Adviser Emma to transform his ideas into a successful business. With Emma’s practical guidance and encouragement, he tackled everything from registering with HMRC and creating a business plan to establishing his online presence and securing start-up funding. Breaking the journey down into manageable steps gave Jonathan the confidence to move forward and turn his ambition into reality.
Today, Jonathan has successfully launched Open House, offering DJ sets, weddings, private parties, music quizzes and event hosting. With repeat bookings already coming in and exciting plans to expand into new venues and specialist care settings, the future is looking bright.
Reflecting on his experience, Jonathan said that Emma’s combination of practical knowledge, accountability and genuine encouragement made the whole process feel achievable and gave him the confidence to build a business he is truly passionate about.
Jonathan’s story is a brilliant reminder that new opportunities can come from unexpected places. With determination, the right support and a willingness to embrace change, it’s possible to build an exciting new future at any stage of life.
Congratulations to Jonathan and Emma on this fantastic achievement. We look forward to seeing Open House continue to grow.
