Andy’s Journey with Momentic: Turning a Passion into a Thriving Business

After facing challenges in returning to work due to a car accident that caused him ongoing pain, Andy was introduced to the Restart program in August 2023. With the guidance of his Employment Adviser, Luca, and Health & Wellbeing Adviser, Vanessa, Andy took part in job readiness courses and embraced new activities like fishing, walking with his dog, and yoga, which helped him manage his pain and improve his overall wellbeing.

In 2024, with support from Fedcap, Andy pursued his Helmsman’s Certificate and First Aid Course, setting his sights on becoming a freelance boat skipper along the River Thames. That’s when he was referred to Momentic, where he met his Business Adviser, Alexis Angeli. Alexis provided invaluable guidance in business planning, financial forecasting, and the essential logistics of setting up his own charter service, including registration with HMRC and bookkeeping support.

With Momentic’s help, Andy not only launched his new business as a boat skipper but has already purchased his own boat, ahead of plan, for the upcoming 2025 charter season. Offering river cruises, fishing trips, corporate charters, and special events, Andy is proud to be living his dream, transforming a lifelong interest into a fulfilling career.
