Momentic and Midlife MOT
The Midlife MOT is a Department for Work and Pensions initiative designed to support older workers. Reed in Partnership have been chosen to deliver the Midlife MOT service in East Anglia, and Momentic will provide customers with specialist self-employment support
A Midlife MOT is a free review for workers aged 45-55 that helps them take stock of their finances, skills and health, and enables them to better prepare for their retirement and build financial resilience.
It is designed to support them to make secure plans for their later life and encourage more older workers to stay in employment, or look at self-employment.
Older works face challenges in balancing work and their daily lives. Many older workers left employment during the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns and are either choosing not to return, or have struggled to find a new opportunity.
The Midlife MOT helps employers ensure they are age-friendly and providing dedicated support for older workers in their teams. The overall length of support is around three to four months for each employee.

What is the Momentic Self Employment Offer?
The self-employment support will be delivered through a series of high impact group sessions, with each cohort led by a trained facilitator, plus additional 1-1 support is available to help people to start and grow a business.
The programme includes:

- Flexible topic selection
- One to one coaching
